Margaret Barth Rasmussen, age 88, of Helena died Friday evening, July 15, 2005, at a local care facility in Helena.
Margaret was born to Thomas and Eugenia (Schmidt) Barth in Mandan, N.D., on March 24, 1917. She attended grade school in rural Mandan and high school in Mandan. Margaret attended Northern College in Aberdeen, S.D., and Presentation School of Nursing at Saint Luke's, also in Aberdeen.
She nursed at Evangelical Hospital and Saint Alexius, both in Bismarck, N.D., and Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood.
Margaret and Vernon E. Rasmussen were married in November 1946. He preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1981. They resided in Dagmar and moved to Plentywood in 1957. They retired to Helena in 1977.
Margaret was a past member of A.N.A., Catholic Daughters of America, C.C.W. of St. Mary's and Legion of Mary.
Surviving Margaret are her children, Linda Lindberg of Helena and Howard Rasmussen and his wife, Pam, of Sand Point, Idaho. Also surviving Margaret are her six sisters and one brother.
A vigil service will be held 7 p.m. today, July 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in Margaret's name are suggested to a charity or organization of the donor's choice. Retz Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
